Application Confirmation

You will be directed back to this page after filling out and submitting an application for adoption or fostering. Please note that our main organization is currently using dialup. Response times are slow at the moment so please bear with us. Thank you.

Adoption Process

If you cannot wait at least 2 weeks for your perfect friend, then please consider other options. We do our best to place our dogs in a timely manner, but as volunteers we have responsibilities outside of rescue - kids, families, our animals, jobs, and emergencies!

If you are not willing to make a lifetime commitment to the animal you adopt, please do not apply. Rescue animals have uncertain pasts, some have been dumped at a shelter with not so much as a collar or a name. Some need housetraining or extra love, and all need patience and understanding.

We do our best to be open and honest about the animal you are considering. All the information we have on our animals in their Petfinder profile.

We require anadoption applicationto be submitted prior to a visit with a pet. Once we have reviewed your completed application, including references, we will contact you to clarify any details and give you, and us, the opportunity to ask further questions. We will also arrange a home visit.

If you have surrendered a pet within the last five years, and the circumstances were not extenduating, you will be denied for adoption. We do not adopt our dogs to be outside or chained. We also do not adopt dogs out that are not spayed/neutered.

Adoption Fees

As we do not receive any funding at this time, all costs associated with rescuing the animals we have either come from adoption fees, donations or out of our members own pockets.

Our adoption fees are based on costs involved in saving the animal. They range depending on vet care and any transportation that they require.

These are common costs associated with each of our dogs. Dentals are only done if considered urgent need by our vet.

Medical costs for each dog:

Spay / Neuter

$ 220 – 450

Vaccinations

$   75 – 150

Heartworm Test (US dogs)

$   25 – 110

Microchip

$   50 – 150

Dental

$ 200 – 600

Transportation costs for each dog:

From US

$ 205 – 350

From Newfoundland

$ 180 – 500

Calgary / Saskatoon Flights

$ 121 – 180

To drive an animal from our rescue sanctuary to Calgary is approximately $275 depending on cost of gas and vehicle used.

While we would love to be able to bring our adoption fees down, these are just the basic costs involved for vet care and transport. This does not include the costs of feeding, grooming, obedience training and the various other expenses associated with our animals. One animal becoming ill can quickly become a vet bill of $300 or more just for a simple, treatable illness.
